Slurs that flow from below to above
Is it possible to have a slur that is below a group of notes then swoops above another group of notes beamed in the opposite direction? (or vice versa). One continuous slur rather than 2 separate ones.

Re: Trill Effect/Tremolo Notation
The full (paid) version of TG Tools has many more tremolo options when compared to the free version that comes with Finale, including the ability to position the beams at a predetermined distance from the stems. It might be worth taking a look at the free 30 day demo. The align feature for dynamics...

Re: Trill Effect/Tremolo Notation
To be correct, this is tremolo notation, not trill notation. To adjust the angle: Special Tools Tool > Beam Angle Tool As the Message Bar says: Drag left handle to stretch all stems; right handle to change beam angle Indeed it is, but in tes case of the Sciarrino example it's an effect called multi...

Re: Trill Effect/Tremolo Notation
What is the best way to achieve this type of notation in Finale? Here is an excerpt from a Sciarrino piece. I've tried the TG Tools plugin "easy tremolo". Perhaps thats the best way, unless there's a graphic elsewhere that can be resized. Once easy tremolo is applied I found it clumsy to fine tune t...

Re: Adjusting Vector Graphics
I'm aware that these things are horizontal and vertical yet Finale allows for hairpins to be angled, it allows for smart lines to be pivoted etc. We're talking about working with the graphics tool, its reasonable to assume that a placed vector graphic be permitted to be pivoted for maximum flexibili...

Re: Adjusting Vector Graphics
I'm drawing my own graphic shapes and then importing them. That's really unfortunate Finale only allows them to be stretched but not angled. Rather short sighted by them as in my case I can't know for sure what the exact angle is until I'm on the staff. If they could just pivot then I'd be set. I co...

Adjusting Vector Graphics
So, it's obvious how to resize vector images in Finale BUT how can you pivot them?
Every adjustment leaves the image more or less on the same plane and just changes dimensions but what about it's angle?

Re: Ossia measures + bar numbers
btw Does anyone have a good explanation why the Ossia tool is only capable of creating a single measure? ...and to do multiple measures you have to create a new staff, hide unused bars and shrink it all manually? Seriously, why not just have an option within the Ossia tool where you can select how m...

Cheers, that works. I had been doing it through the expression tool as rehearsal/measure numbers for larger enclosed numbers.

Ossia measures + bar numbers
When creating ossia measures it automatically shrinks the size of the measure numbers so that they're inconsistent w/ the rest of the file. I have created expressions that display a specific size of measure numbers w/ a circle around them to appear at the first measure of a new system and only on th...

Re: Jetstream Finale Controller
Changing Fonts Interesting idea. Much of the contemporary notation we have and will implement won't require you to switch fonts manually. For instance, with the graphic mallet types, those are simply built-in. No need to switch to a custom font. The font is applied for you. Is there a particular in...

Re: Staggering an instrument's entry (visually)
In that situation my preferred solution is a shape created in the Shape Designer. The vertical distance between staff-lines is 6 Points. Look in the Document Options to see the thickness of staff-lines - and note the line thickness. Then, in the Shape Designer, draw five equidistant horizontal line...

Re: Jetstream Finale Controller
- I would say having quarter tone flats & sharps with the accidentals would be a big time saver for me, especially if they changed the frequency playback as well (but I suspect that's not possible on the controller end). The quarter tone accidentals are included w/ regular accidentals in Sibelius, h...

Staggering an instrument's entry (visually)
Say you'd like to have an instrument's staff begin a few measures in rather than have bars of rests, how would you go about this? Here's an example where I've hidden the bar lines & staff lines for a few measures but the treble clef is left hovering over at the start. What I'd like to do is have the...

Re: Aligning Horizontally
Is there anything for text? These are basic tasks that should definitely be built into Finale. If you use Finale's built-in Expression categories you will come close to what you want. Just make up separate categories for different placement needs and the expressions entered using those categories w...

Good to know about the TG Tools, waiting for the Perfect Layout plugin but I don't think it's out for Mac yet.

Aligning Horizontally
There is an option (right clicking) to align smart shapes horizontally.
Is there a way to do this with dynamics and text?
