Re: Sync to audio track

Yes it is possible. 1) If the audio track has a very steady tempo (in the studio, it may have been recorded with a metronome click) : - first in Finale, select the appropriate tempo. - import the audio track Audio/Midi Menu->Add audio track. Load the track - audio clip attributes is very useful, as ...

For MacOsX Leopard, you have to use version 2008 or newer. Earlier versions may work at first sight, but some functions are broken. The website of Finale lists the incompatibilities.

To change the tempo from a specific measure, many of us use the expression tool. Just create an expression (use tempo marks in Finale 2009 and up, or create an expression and go to the playback thumbnail ->type->tempo->enter a value)

Re: Lock Systems

And i cannot click on lock systems To lock systems, make sure you select the region first (it can be the whole score) while in the Selection tool. A keyboard shortcut is Cmd-L (Mac) or Ctrl-L I suppose (PC). Otherwise the menu item will be greyed out. After locking systems, it is a good idea to app...

I want to hide only one particular page number. In my case, the music ends on page 15, and the next page contains a copyright warning, and it is page 16. I don't want the "16" to show on that page only. Yes, I am using Finale 2000. Thanks. Peter has given the key. Create a text insert/page number t...

A way to manually hide an individual rest in Speedy entry : position the pointer over it and type * .

Or if you don't want to delete them or if you want to delete just some of them, in the measure tool, select the region, and in the measure menu, select "hide measure numbers".

Re: Keyboard Shortcuts

Maybe a software which allows you to program macros, triggered by keys, would be helpful. With a key combination of your choice, you can easily launch menu items, etc..., and even more complex sequences of actions. Try Quickeys for instance.

Re: triplets by speedy

How can I transform eighth notes to triplets by Speedy? A few tips : - In Speedy, as you probably know, the way to enter triplets : first type opt-3 (on the Mac ; ctrl-3 I assume on PC), for the numeric value of the tuplet : thus here, for a triplet, type 3. Then use 4 for the eight notes. - you ca...

Re: pasting whole pages from different project

Assuming that all pieces share the staff number and order, select/copy the new measures, then in the other document, select the first measure and use the "Insert" command in the Edit menu. If staves are arranged differently, you will have to do this staff by staff. Now, when the measures have been i...

The full version of Finale has a plug-in which checks the range, but after the music has been entered (You select the region and apply the plug-in).
This will work for staves created with the new staff wizard.
The plug-in is under the plug-in menu->scoring and arranging->Check range.

2 ideas : You can place your Cue notes in Layer 4, and mute playback just for that layer (Instrument list window, click the triangle to see all options, and mute Layer 4 in the staff). Actually, using the plug-in to create cue notes may do it by itself. Or you can create a text expression with playb...

I've done Staff Styles to create the slash notation and that of course wipes out any notes you may have entered, even in other layers. Not necessarily. If your staff style, in its alternate notation window, has marks on the checkboxes "show items in other layers", "show items attached to notes in o...

For a single monodic instrument, it is possible, but for complex polyphonic instruments or ensembles, we are not there yet. At least that's the answer that most of use would give until now. But check out Melodyne, which is working in that direction. A new version (due in August 2009) claims to be ab...

Re: Problem with linked notes

Part of the answer could be in the use of layers, which allow you to enter different rhythms in the same staff. You can switch layers at the bottom left of the Finale window. Otherwise, if you used Hyperscribe to enter the music, you may look at Quantization options. And a split point should be defi...
