Re: from .bakx to finale file
I suggest you treat .bakx files as they're intended: as an emergency backup in case you save your file when you didn't mean to, or accidentally do something without realizing it. It's good to have Finale automatically create them just in case, but I very rarely find myself using one. The couple of t...

Re: Can't get dynamic shortcuts to work on french laptop
You can reprogram those dynamic shortcuts ("metatools") to whatever you want. Hold down the shift key, press the new key, then pick the dynamic from the dialog. This is per document, so you might consider reprogramming the template from which new documents are made.

Re: PercNoteTypes.txt is missing or corrupt
Might be a file permissions problem. Try right-clicking the Finale icon and selecting Run as Administrator. If that fixes it, you might want to rerun the installation as administrator, which I think MakeMusic suggests you do.

Re: PercNoteTypes.txt is missing or corrupt
I don't have Finale 26 but with Finale 27 that file is in
C:\Program Files\MakeMusic\Finale\27\Resources
I've attached a copy for you (download, then unzip).

Re: Backup in Finale 27
Installing Finale should have assigned .bakx to Finale, so I don't know what that didn't happen. Did you click "Mas aplicationes?" Do that, and hunt for C:/Program files/MakeMusic/Finale/27/Finale.exe. Or, open the file from within Finale from the File menu rather than trying to open it from Windows.

Re: Finale issues (version 27.4.1.110)
It might have to do with Windows Security. You could try going to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection. Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings, and then under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions. Try adding C:/ProgramFi...

Re: Accessability for sight impaired user
This might be best handled with Windows rather than Finale. Uncheck everything in Finale's Preferences/Screen Colors so that it's simple black with a white background, then check out the Ease of Access settings in Windows. Also try Googling

Re: Slash for 3 beats & Cue for 1 beat in one measure
To create the layout in your attached graphic I selected the first 3 beats, and applied the staff style Slash Notation. I suspect this is the step babryanaton is not doing. It is slightly hinky. If you apply the staff style first and then run the cue notes plug-in, you get the quarter-note rest in ...

Re: Same clef multiple times within one measure
I recently did this exact thing with secco recitative (two characters sharing one staff), and did as Peter suggests and added a second bass clef to the repertoire of clefs. I strongly suggest this approach rather than using a "false clef," since with a real clef change Finale will automatically make...

Re: spacing
The notes in the two hands must line up vertically, so where there are sixteenth notes in the right hand, the left-hand notes will be further apart. Nothing wrong with that, and what you have is normal and looks fine. The last system is a bit crowded, though, since you've got six measures where the ...

Re: Quarters and rests in triplets of half-notes
Thanks, Mike. I think I figured out what's going on. If you enter the first note with QWERTY, as you did, you get this after pressing Alt+9: 0693.png But if you create the first note with the mouse, you get this: 0694.png With the "caret" between the quarter note and the rest in the first case, it w...

Re: Quarters and rests in triplets of half-notes
I did get it to work. After entering the quarter note and setting up the tuplet, it looks like this (already we're off to a bad start): 0690.png If you move the right arrow to select the first half rest and try to enter a quarter note with QWERTY, it will enter a half note instead, even though quart...

That's not it in this case. It was unchecked (QWERTY entry).

Re: Quarters and rests in triplets of half-notes
You want a triplet of three half notes in the space of two half notes. I was able to do it easily in Speedy entry by using Ctrl+1 to set up 3 halves in the space of 2, then entering the notes and rests (measure 1 below). Simple entry gave me trouble, as you can see (m. 3). Mike Rosen?

Re: Automatic beam breaking
A plug-in would be great. Meanwhile, try this: make the pattern in measure 1 below in some scratch measure--you can delete it later. Then set the copy filter as show. As you can see it will almost convert your rhythm in measure 2 to your desired result. The place is fails is where there are four 32n...

Re: Set measure width immutably
Sounds like you might have Automatic Music Spacing or Automatic Update Layout turned off. They should be on at the stage of entering music. At the very end of your process you might want to turn off Automatic Music Spacing if you're doing fine adjustment. Always leave Automatic Update Layout on.

Perhaps you could post a screen shot. But it looks like the font, GnvilFIN, is from Elbsound. I would ask Herr Angermüller himself.
