Virtual stuck key, perhaps. Try rebooting.

Re: Increasing note size and staff lines proportionately

With Hector's method, if more staves are created, even without necessarily adding measures, they will be the old size. If you're done editing the file, though, then it's fine and doesn't require "Redefine pages."

Re: Increasing note size and staff lines proportionately

Yes, I mean page format. There's a staff height and scale systems, which really do the same thing. It will make the notes bigger automatically along with the staff. After changing it, you need to go to the Page Layout tool and pick "Redefine pages" for it to take effect.

Document format lets you scale everything at once.

Re: Can't find Plug-Ins folder

Right, no JW beam-across-barline. See the other thread you posted in, but the Patterson plug-in works fine if you apply your dynamics and accidentals first. Beaming across the barline should be done last.

Re: Beam over Barline Problem

Finale can't beam over the barline, so the plug-in fakes it with hidden notes and other tricks. The gray tails are hidden notes. You must have Finale set to show hidden notes. You can turn that off, since it's usually not desirable to see them anyway (View/Show/...). If you place your dynamics and g...

Re: tremolo question

Right under the statement on p. 226 she shows that minim tremolos can be written three ways, so I think it's your choice.

By the way, when are minims and quavers going to go the way of shillings and sixpence? :-)

Re: Version 26 released

Yes and no. Uninstalling them shouldn't break v26, but you may find that when opening old files with the current version, some things look a bit different. If you're willing to check everything and tweak the differences, then OK, but if you perhaps just want to make a quick fix, it might be worth it...

When you create the endings with the repeat tool, first select the several measures that are to be the first ending.

Seems unlikely, I'm afraid.

Are you familiar with the Steve Reich pieces in this vein (It's Gonna Rain, e.g.)?

I don't think I have it. A search for "rewire" on my computer only turns up something in Sibelius (which loads much quicker). Perhaps it was added in a later verison of Finale.

Re: Delay when opening Finale

By saying "even faster" I take it you think 10-12 seconds isn't slow, but that's the kind of delay I'm complaining about. I suppose it could be the Windows security stuff. I told it not to scan finale.exe every time, which made no difference, but I suppose if Finale is for some reason slogging throu...

Re: How to get a SQUARE FRAME around text

I've wondered why text blocks don't have enclosures like expressions. Having to do it with the shape designer is pretty unwieldy and requires lots of trial and error.

Delay when opening Finale

I experience a long delay when opening Finale. The splash screen is displayed and the cursor signifies that it's busy. I thought it was my old, slow computer, but I have a new, very fast machine now and it's no better. It's perhaps 10 seconds. What could it possibly be doing all that time? Is it con...

Re: 2014.5 Text block appear in some parts but not others?

You can also have a text block assigned to a staff. In either that case or using Michel's expressions, you'd have to hide them in the score, though. You might try putting a page-attached text block in the score (and thus all the parts), hiding it, then unlinking it from all the parts. It will be hid...

Re: Change Instrument Dialog doesn't show all instruments

I recently used a celesta in a piece and wanted to write it on one staff, and Finale supplied two. I deleted one of the staves, but there was some confusion on the part of the Score Manager and some sort of remnant left over, if I recall correctly.

Re: Incorporating audio track

I was able import the audio and set the click track. The music has repeats with endings, so when I get to that point I guess I'll have to doctor the audio file to play the first ending and then immediately the second ending, and reload it, but it will be a while before I get there. Thanks--this is e...
