Re: Blank measure?

Enter a "real" whole rest and hide it. I believe the shortcut to hide using either entry tool is "H".

Re: first measure (more or less) disappeared

As I mentioned, the pickup measure is set to a value of 6 edu. A quarter note is 1024 edu, so you can see how unreasonable this is. This suggests to me that the file was somehow "tainted" by some other process. This reminds me of some of the weird errors that I've read occur when printed music is sc...

Re: first measure (more or less) disappeared

The first measure is defined as a pickup measure with a duration of 6 edu, which is a very short duration, hence the minimal width. Clearing the pickup clears up the problem, except for the dotted 1024th note, or whatever it is. Looks like it should be a quarter note?

Re: Different size Full / Abbrev. Staff Names?

I wonder whether Finale Script could do this? Maybe one of the experts could suggest a script.

Re: Center Systems Vertically on Page

What were your steps to do this? As I mentioned, I reduced the page percentage from 100% to 90%. That made room for a 3rd system. I then adjusted the system margins so that the 3 systems were spaced out in a pleasing way. I do this pretty much "by eye" - set the view percentage to 90 or 100% so you...

Re: Center Systems Vertically on Page

The attached file is not what you asked for, but seeing your original concept got me to thinking. I do a lot of small ensembles - string quartet, brass quintet, etc. My client likes 3 systems on a page usually. I redid your sample with 3 systems and it makes use of the space a little more efficientl...

Re: Which is it?

There are three sizes of clarinets in Eb--make sure you've got the right one! There's the little soprano clarinet common in big late-romantic orchestras. There's a tenor-sized, bigger than the standard clarinet but smaller than a bass clarinet, that I've always heard simply as "alto clarinet." Then...

How to Skip Playback Over 1 Measure

I used a hidden, blank measure to modify a key signature display. How do I skip playback of the hidden measure? Anotherwords, go directly from actual m49 to actual m51?

Thanks,
N

Re: Which is it?

Thanks Emily, Ron and David. Since this is an American publisher I'm going to stick with "E flat Contra Alto".

Which is it?

HA! Now that I've gotten you to open up this topic, I need some learned advice.

There seem to be at least 3 ways of referring to this instrument:

1) E flat Contralto Clarinet
2) E flat Contra-Alto Clarinet
3) E flat Contra Alto Clarinet

Which is correct/more correct?

Thanks,
N

Re: Talk to me like I'm an idiot

EVERY cymbal was not where she expected it to be. My hihat became her ride, and the bell of the ride when I thought the hihat was open. My ride cymbal was she expected the crash to be... Maybe I'm wrong, but you could have edited the Percussion Map in use to change the location of the notes to what...
