Re: sfz
I generally, right or wrong and perhaps wrong more often than not, write music and consider my target market. If getting my ideas across requires something, I do it and don't worry about it. Concepts that a professional musician will understand is not the same as others. BTW, if I remember correctly...

Re: dead horse
That's cool but my scale is a bit below yours it seems. I generally only sell a dozen copies or so. I try to keep printing costs as low as possible. The print shop I use would do all that yours does but not for free. It is not a music publisher. I don't buy steak and lobster form this just an occasi...

Re: dead horse
I have it cut by the print shop. I usually ask for something around 60lb white bond because it goes through my printer easily.

Re: dead horse
I think the printing section of Finale is one of its weakness points but you can print any size you want. The problem then becomes, do you have a printer that will print that size. I do all my concert stuff in 9x12 Concert size. Not very many printers on the market in a reasonable price range will l...

Re: Printing issue with Finale / Kyocera
I have never used a Kyocera Ecosys P5026CDW but it sounds like a font issue. I would look into that first.

No, no you are fine. I enjoy your thoughts. Please don't stop. I look at the other packages but I don't get into them as deeply as some of you guys. I'm not that smart I guess. Not being able to turn the page easily is not good and something I missed when I looked at it.

Re: dead horse
... it will stop potential fixes and improvements from being brought up to the programming staff at Dorico. Do you really think the big three or four notation software makers read this forum? If they do, they do a great job ignoring it. It still comes down to money, not enough of, or ability of the...

Re: Selecting a single note -- why?
It's actually quite useful if you need to transpose only one (or several) notes quickly. I use it quite often. Select the note(s) and use the Transposition Metatool: 6 Down major second 7 Up major second 8 Down octave 9 Up octave Or - select and right-click for choosing the Transposition dialog box...

Re: dead horse
Perfect Layout will do it all for you, but at an additional cost. It's almost like Finale is "Finale Elements", and paying for PL is the additional price for "Finale Pro". Perfect Layout needs to be a standard part of Finale as do a couple of the JW plug-ins. Of course PL and JW need to be compensa...

Re: Plug-ins Question
As I think is obvious... No, not to me. A different preference in workflow, I guess, I never use scroll view to edit parts. Plus, if you do use extracted parts the plug-in is available in page view or scroll view. I just checked it! Now I am curious why you would want to add the plug-in to just a p...

Re: dead horse
I tried re-importing the XML into Finale and everything came out perfect. I think all will agree Finale is pretty darn good. The elephant in the room is, it could be even better . It could be untouchable by its competitors. As I have always said for what I do Finale is great , as long as there are ...

Re: Plug-ins Question
It isn't on my machine. In the JW version you have to select a region first did you do that?... it's grayed-out in both page and scroll view.
What is "score" view?Is it only available in score view?

Re: dead horse
On the bright side all of us long time Finale users know what it can do. There is still no doubt it produces the best scores on the market. But all of you need to sit a couple days with a real Sibelius users and watch the difference. I mean not just some guy that tries Sib or an average user but a p...

Re: dead horse
I spent a decade mastering Finale, so I'll continue to use it as long as the company stays afloat ... I am right there with you! But I don't think we even care if "the company stays afloat" . What we have now does work especially with the support from NotePerformer3 and Perfect Layout and a few JW ...

What he is saying is the way you have it set up, the bass staff is part of the music. So even though there aren't any notes in it, it won't hide.

Re: dead horse
They declined on the grounds that the manuscript parts copied by me reveal the essence of the piece. I agree they are beautiful, at least most are. But I don't see any connection of a hand written piece being any better as some are actually difficult to read. Hand written for a decorative chart but...
