EDIT: Finale does just display those multimeassure rests in page view, that's why I didn't see anything happen when I was in scroll view. Also keep in mind that multimeasures will only be created if all the measures are really empty. is it possible to switch tempo to have several tempos in the same...

Thanks, that lands the new staves above the ones already written on, necessitating moving staves and tearing my hair out at the same time. how do I get them below the current staves? Staff tool. A simple way is to use the handle at the beginning of a staff to move it up or down. Adjust the staff gr...

Re: balancing play back sound
One way is through the expression tool : you can enter expressions with a playback effect. Create a text expression, find the playback options. Next to "Type", you can select "controller" and choose "volume". Enter a lower value. Place this expression at the beginning of the staff. These expressions...

MakeMusic apparently admitted some problems with the Jazz default file for Mac. Problems a.o. with multimeasure rests, etc... A fix has been posted. I don't know if it will help in your case, but it might be a first step to get the latest version and take it from there. (You may want to reinstall th...

Re: Saving notepad 2005 files in etf format ... Possible?
However, the ETF format seems obsolete today, since there is MusicXML and the Dolet Plug-In. Agreed, except for one case in which etf is the (more or less reliable) solution (not Dolet Music XML) : exporting from Finale to Sibelius...(Sibelius does NOT import Music XML, as surprising as it may seem).

how to change the name of a staff in the middle of the score As Peter S. said, you can create staff styles which will have a specific staff name, and which you can apply to the region of your choice in the staff of your choice. Here is the detailed procedure (with the English terms) : Staff Tool St...

Re: 8ba, how change the playback effect (octave downFinale 2
In the Smart Shape Tool (the icon is a curve), you'll find the 8va, and you can drag the line to the right to cover a region, in which the music plays in the octave above. If you select the same symbol 8va with the option key pressed on a Mac, it will give you the 8vb, correct playback included. On ...

This is really better in Fin2004. It is possible to drag a rectangle around all the handles on the screen and press delete (DEL). When you hold the DEL-button and drag the rectangle all articulations in that region will be deleted. It is also possible to select as many different articulations as yo...

Re: Change sharp notes to flat equivalent
Chapter 6-4 of the manual should help you.
Take a look at the Options menu, Enharmonic spelling. "favor flats" is one of the many options you have.
Also, in Speedy entry, if 9 does it for single notes, option-9 allows you to change accidentals of a whole measure to their enharmonic equivalents.

I usually do this creating the one bar repeat also as a text expression. Then you can easily place it anywhere on your staff.rick wrote:one bar repeat sign above the staff
(Save that text expression library and load it in your templates).

I am using 2003 on an os9 mac with an MOTU serial interface and have a problem with the MIDI playback. Sometimes it won't update changes for playback. I keep hearing the old part before correction. Use Text Expressions, they can be defined to have a effect on playback: - Create a text expression ("flute", "alto sax", "patch 33", whatever). - In the"Text Expression Designer" window : Click on "Show Playback options" to see more options - Playback Options > Type > Patch - Define your patch. - Th...
