If you suspect the document to be corrupted, create a new one, and copy and paste everything into it.
(PS : you could also update to 2010b, it fixes many bugs, although I haven't seen any mention of problems related to printing).

Use the resize tool (its icon is %). If you click precisely on the notehead, you can resize the notehead. If you click on the stem, you can resize the note Of course you can apply those actions to just one note in one layer (with "Show active layer only") (other options of the resize tool : click be...

On the Mac, there is a Midi/audio setup, where you should see icons representing your midi interface and other midi gear. Draw the connections (virtual cables) from/to the interface (in & out). Test it there and add external devices manually if needed. In Finale, Midi/Audio menu : select "Play Final...

A preliminary clarification, just in case : if you want your chords to be played in a specific rhythm, you are going to use rhythmic notation, but you have to enter each complete chord (all its notes) in the measure before you apply the staff style "rhythmic notation". In other words, chord symbols ...

If designing the expression in Shape designer seems too complicated, I can think of an alternative. It should work : in another document, in 2/4, create a staff without lines, enter the notes, add the equal sign in between (make adjustments if needed) and save the whole thing as a graphic file (usin...

I have the toggle off ... also when I copy and paste between staves it erases info from the other layers on the new staff. If the toggle is off, what you are describing is normal in Finale : you copy the complete contents of all the layers of the source staff and paste them into all the layers of t...

Re: PintMusic 2004 to Finale 2008 and back to PrintMusic 200
The best way is to export the file in Finale 2008 as a "MusicXML" file, which Printmusic 2004 (hopefully) can open. In Finale 2008, look in the File menu ->MusicXML->export.

You could contact support via the web site : http://www.finalemusic.com/ Support->Contact support->submit case (create an account if don't have one). You also should give us the exact brand & model of your midi interface. Maybe a search with Google could help you to locate the maker's web site, and ...

Midnam & middev files (on the Mac) are files used for external midi gear. A Middev is common to all midi devices from a specific brand (one for Roland, one for Kurzweil, etc...), and there is a midnam file for each midi device within that brand (I have one for my Roland Sound Canvas SC-88 ). I can l...

1 ) Make sure a transpose function is not active in the keyboard.
2 ) Is it happening when "Display in concert pitch" is selected ?

Finale is a family of programs; the "full version" Finale has several little brothers : PrintMusic, Allegro, Songwriter, Notepad. Maybe you should tell us which version (+ year) you are using. About multimeasure rests : all the measures should actually exist, and they should all really be empty. The...

Create new tempo mark->expression designer window :
Uncheck the box "use tempo marks category fonts". Then the pop-up gives access to all the fonts, including Maestro.

Re: Keyboard shortcuts for playback
Maybe you should take a look at the help files, what you want is in there. If (and only if) the playback control window is open, the spacebar starts and pauses the playback. Loops are not implemented in Finale playback, but if you add repeat signs (and define a number of times), you end up with a lo...

You don't mention which version of Finale you are using : "full", "Printmusic"...(please add some info to your signature). You can transpose a staff : - from the Staff attributes window (staff tool, doucle click on the staff)->Transposition. Octave down is available there. Of course transposition wi...
