Re: Last measure
Yes. I think it's a setting in ‘Human Playback’. Click in the Playback window on whichever style of HP you are using and then in the dialogue window that should appear, look at the ‘Interpret’ subsection and untick ‘Final Bars’.

Re: wrapping word extensions
I don't know if this will be of help, but I have worked out a way of getting smart word extensions to extend across rests and from system to system.… … … The screenshot illustrates another closely related way of dealing with this, which I used back in 2016. In my version there is also a hidden not...

That's probably where I am now, while hoping it doesn't become ‘absolutely necessary’.

Re: Note Mover problem
Two things: 1) Assuming that what you want to do is to move the low notes onto the lower stave, shouldn't the rests on that lower stave first be default whole bar rests rather than ‘real’ rests? 2) On a Mac at least, rather than using Note Mover, I would select the low notes I wanted to move and the...

Re: Fonts
The SMuFL fonts appear to be working, but a little oddly, in F 26.3. I will need the pupil's PDF, unless I actually open the F 27 demo which I have now downloaded, but even in F 26 I can at least get the gist.

I use F 26.3 & have received a Finale 27 file from a student that looks as in the screenshot. Am I right in believing that if he e-mails me the relevant Finale unicode fonts (Maestro and Engraver might be enough) I'll be able view this correctly (at least as far as fonts are concerned)? In the meant...

Not exactly what you're looking for, but may be useful: Elaine Gould has at least a dozen consecutive pages on choral notation in her book.

Re: formatting problem
… … Why are you using these European page sizes?… … The A and B sizes are perhaps better described as international (ISO) rather than as exclusively European. Parts can be printed to B4 (a size between A4 and A3) but not normally to A3. FWIW Japanese B4 is marginally larger than international B4 be...

Re: Finalescript to Enter a Forward Slash
I remember that this came up with one of my earlier versions of Finale and that, on a Mac at least, the answer was to enter a solidus ⁄ rather than the more usual vergule / - here they are next to each other ⁄ / for clear comparison, solidus first. Unfortunately in the computer jargon of ‘slashe...

Re: overlapping
Yes, but… I'm not sure there are rigidly absolute rights and wrongs in this: there are so many variables. I've never experienced anyone's having problems with double dots sensibly used.

Greetings David! A quick internet search has given these examples of quadruple dotted minims: Liszt: Piano Concerto 2, Allegro deciso, mm. 327 and 331; Schumann: String Quartet no. 1, Op. 41/1 III, mm. 16, 17, 33, 34; Verdi: Requiem Rex Tremendae, mm. 356 and 358; Franck: Prelude, Chorale, and Fugu...

Re: overlapping
If you would notate this measure correctly, there would be no overlapping and the rhythms would be clearer. In general, double dotting notes should be avoided except when necessary - for example a double dotted eighth followed by a 32nd. Although I agree that in this particular case not using the d...

Re: control panel gone
Have you inadvertently gone to Full Screen? If you key control>command>F you'll reverse that.
Another thing that can be accidentally keyed and which causes view problems is option>command>8. Keying it again reverses this.
There are others…

Re: minor saving as MIDI question
I don't know whether or not this would do what you want as I never save as a MIDI file. However, it is certainly possible via the Score Manager to have the two piano staves playback on different channels (each of which would then need dynamics, which can be hidden where superfluous).

On a Mac with a UK keyboard I hold the grave accent key ‘`’ while dragging the top expression up without moving the lower one. There will be an equivalent with Windows and a US keyboard (which has this key in a different place).

Re: Unison voices
The two semibreves (whole notes) on B (flat)? In the attached screenshot both bars were B and G: in the second I dragged the G up to B with the result shown (this is all in the one layer and automatically spaced this way by Finale). In other words: if you first enter a non-unison in Speedy and then ...

If you first convert it to PDF, there are various bits of inexpensive software which create booklets. Which might be best will depend on your operating system.

Re: A feature request submitted to MM
Ah! MM technical support have told me, if I have understood correctly, that I did NOT ask this in the proper Zendesk place. Apparently it should not be a technical support matter, but instead it should be raised in the ‘The Finale Feature Request Community’. I've had a look at that, but the approach...

Re: Unable to enter or edit lyrics
Could it possibly just be that in the Lyrics menu you have ‘Adjust Syllables’ selected instead of ‘Type Into Score’ (if that is your usual method of entering lyrics)? That would have the effect you are experiencing. My apologies if it's something altogether more complicated that's at fault here.

2 different page formats for linked parts: possible?
How easy might it be it with linked parts to have two different page formats, some to be printed to A4 with 6.0 or 6.5 mm stave heights and some to B4 with 7.0 mm staves? (FYI wind, brass, plucked strings, keyboard and probably timpani would be to A4. Bowed strings and the percussion score would be ...

A feature request submitted to MM
This is something I've been meaning to submit to MM for ages and have just now done so (in the proper Zendesk place - EDIT : or not the proper place, as it's turned out). “This is primarily a feature request as I still find the page format dialogue convoluted and obscure after 22 years of using Fina...
