What has been ‘embedded’?
On one page only of this score I get the strange box with ‘embedded’ in it shown at the bottom left in the attached screenshot. Does anybody have an explanation as to what it might be? It doesn't print, and it most often appears when I scroll up or down on the page, but it can also disappear suddenl...

Re: Entering nested tuplets - nightmares in Finale 25...
Is this the sort of thing you are trying to do, done just now very easily on a Mac with Finale 25 while using Speedy Entry? I entered the first note normally, then keyed option 3 and entered the second, then option 3 again and entered the third note as a quaver (8th) and continued to the end of the ...

Re: Flipping existing articulations
You can download it (free) from here https://www.finaletips.nu/index.php/download You'll need to put it in the right plug-ins folder, but I don't know where that is on Windows. Somebody here should be able to help.

Bass Trombone sound
I notice that the bass trombone that comes with GIFF is much brighter in sound than the tenor trombone in the same. Using the GIFF bass trombone allows the full low range without major tinkering of the arcane sfz files, but in my experience as a bass trombone player, the bass usually has a darker so...

If all else fails, send a tweet to @finaleofficial via Twitter (if you are on it). To my astonishment via this means I've several times had useful answers from organizations who were otherwise difficult to contact.

Re: Single/Grand Staff
Someone else may have different advice, but I suspect the only way is to have the grand staff throughout, but set up in such a way that you can hide the second stave everywhere except where you need it. This should be easier that I may be making it seem.

Currently (and so far) it works perfectly for me, plus the advantage of smaller files.BuonTempi wrote:Also, Finale's Graphics Export has not been entirely trouble-free, with reports of incorrectly displayed notation elements; missing fonts; incorrect selection areas; badly parsed PDF, etc.

Heavens! First a warning: if you ask the plug-in to scan too much, Finale may crash. Running the validate dynamics option on a single 716 bar scene of an opera for modest forces 6 singers and 23/24 instruments came up with a gigantic list of alerts and warnings, many spurious as they were commenting...

Re: Clarinet range
Are you referring to the high written C five ledger lines & a space above the stave? I think most professional clarinettists can play that high, but not quietly which I suspect is well nigh impossible. I'm not sure I've ever written the high C, but I've quite a few times written the high B flat, alw...

Re: Printing out full orchestra score
1) Paper size is crucial for printing orchestral scores. I can't help you with US paper sizes, but if you are in most other countries a full orchestral score would very often be printed to either B4 or A3. If it has already been set-up on screen in another A or B size (eg A4) this is easy to change ...

FWIW I don't have this at all with Finale 25.5 on two computers both running OS 10.13.6 (I don't yet have F 26 or OS 10.14). I try to remember to close Finale overnight, but sometimes I forget. Otherwise, I often close and re-open Finale files as soon as things start to go slow. I try to remember to...

Re: Adjusted measure width won't stick
I don't know whether or not this will help in your case, but earlier today I had this problem with an otherwise empty bar to which I'd added a line of spoken dialogue using the text tool (rather than the lyrics tool). In the measure attributes dialogue I then added extra space (quite a lot!) at both...

Why this font problem in lyrics? (Can be solved)
I'm curious as to why I should find this font problem (see screenshot). I can solve it by retyping on one line and then copying to the others with the edit filter appropriately set. The file was created in Finale 2010 probably with OS 10.6.8, but shows this when opened in F 25.5 with OS 10.13.6. It'...

Yes, I'd though it could perhaps be there. However, changing the contents of that configuration file seems to have absolutely no effect whatsoever on the choice of page sizes presented in either the Setup Wizard or in Document Options. (This is after relaunching Finale, but not restarting the comput...

Choice of page sizes for new documents
Can somebody please remind me how, on a Mac, I can limit the page sizes on offer for new documents to A4, B4, A3 and Custom, in that order. This is for non-template documents. I did it for some much earlier versions of Finale, but haven't bothered since. However, I think I'd like to set this up for ...

… … … Some people look at an older home and think it just needs a little fixing up to look brand new. Others see it as an old dump and would rather buy new. One may need a fix-er-upper mindset to be happy with music scanning. Hmmm... having restored a 1870s Victorian home in San Jose, I’m not sure ...

Mike is right, but nevertheless and purely in the meantime it might be worth checking the various options that are under the MIDI/Audio menu, in case some setting was inadvertently changed during the upgrade of the OS.

Re: Staff style name to a grand staff
I think this is the way to do it. In the Staff Tool select the staves where you want the change, then Staff Menu > Groups and Brackets > Remove and only then Add… to create a new group with the desired name and bracket. It seems a bit convoluted, but if you go back and forth between more than one gr...
