Re: bar numbers missing
I thought I had solved the problem, but now the bar numbers are showing for every bar, and I cannot seem to remove them (I only want them at the beginning of each system).

Re: bar numbers missing
Solved!! Something had gone wrong with the measure number regions (unexplicably showing wrong numbers).

bar numbers missing
I've just noticed that the first movement of a three-movement work (prepared as single file with Finale) lacks bar numbers, whereas the numbers are present in the second and third movements. Does anyone know what the cause could be, and how to fix it?

Re: Garritan Ambience
Thank you. I knew how to get to the Aria Player Effects window, but do not know which settings to choose for the various convolution and ambience controls. I realise it is probably easier to choose from the presets, but which of these will give me a result similar to the Garritan Ambience setting in...

Re: Garritan Ambience
Thanks for the reply. I know very little about playback and reverb. Using the Aria player interface, what settings will give a result similar to Garritan Ambience?

Garritan Ambience
I'm trying out Finale 25, and have noticed that Garritan Ambience is missing, or at least no longer included with the Aria player. Can this be fixed by downloading the Garritan Ambience driver, which I've seen is available online?

Re: anacrusis not playing on repeat
I now seem to have solved the problem, miker, or at least to have got around it. I copied and pasted the first section rather than using the repeat sign, and I also updated the layout.
Thanks for your interest.

anacrusis not playing on repeat
I have a piece in binary form, 6/8 metre, with a quaver upbeat. Upon playback, the opening is fine until the first section is repeated, when the quaver upbeat is for some reason just not heard. No problems with the second section which also has a quaver upbeat; this plays without problems also when r...

Re: substituting ornament symbols...
Thank you everyone for your replies. Let's see if I've understood what I should do: My best bet is to substitute the plus sign that is currently in my score with the standard trill symbol, then hide the trill symbol, and finally reinsert the plus sign (even using a metatool), but setting HP to stand...

Thanks motet. Yes, you're right, I do have HP set to Baroque!! I've not used metatools before; would you be able to talk me through it?

Re: substituting ornament symbols...
Well, it could be no. 43 (U+F02B) or otherwise no. 246 (U+F0F6). They look the same, and it is not clear which one appears in the Articulation Selection pane.

Re: substituting ornament symbols...
As far as I can see, the plus sign is Maestro font, Shift + =. I can't see any ASCII code number. On my PC, In the standard Articulation Selection pane it is no. 23.

Re: substituting ornament symbols...
Thanks motet. The trill still plays even when hidden, but the plus sign plays a type of mordent in HP, and this evidently overrides the trill symbol if the latter is hidden. I could probably insert the plus sign as text, but this would become more time consuming. I'm wondering if there is not a way ...

Re: substituting ornament symbols...
I'll give that a try, thank you. The problem is that the plus sign actually produces a sort of weak mordent when I use 'Human Playback', even if the 'playback effect' in the 'Articulation Designer' pane is set to 'none'.

I'm notating some eighteenth-century music in which the trills are all indicated with a plus sign (+). As far as playback is concerned, is it possibile to get Finale to reproduce a normal trill for the plus sign? I've tried duplicating and then editing the trill symbol in the 'articulation selection...

when repeating section, first notes of melody barely audible
I don't know if anyone else has ever had this problem, but it happens to me quite frequently. In playback (Human Playback), when a section of a piece/movement is repeated, the first notes of the main part/melody are very soft, almost inaudible, and only after a bar or so does the volume get back to ...

Yes, I know (I'm Italian)
The number in the slot is 4:1 since this is the fourth movment of a work. But it always changes back to 4:6.

Text repeat assignment
I've had to insert a few bars into the middle of a document that has various repeated sections, the result of which is that the Da Capo al Fine indication at the end of the movement no longer goes back to the correct bar, but begins a few bars later. I keep inserting the correct bar number in the Te...

Re: transposing instrument - bagpipes!!
Just figured it out. Seeing as I'd lowered the ARIA player instruments by a half tone, I had to do the same thing with the bagpipes, so if they were tuned to C (at least with the SmartMusic SoftSynth player), then they had to be lowered to B. By inserting Interval = 0, Key Alter = -5, I was able to ...

Re: transposing instrument - bagpipes!!
Update!!! I was wrong: the bagpipes are SmartMusic SoftSynth while the other instruments are ARIA player (and not Garritan Instruments). If the ARIA player is set to A=440 (international 440), and the bagpipes' transposition is set to 'None', all the instruments are in tune with each other. However ...

Re: transposing instrument - bagpipes!!
Hi motet, thanks very much for your imput. The orchestra is in fact playing in G major. I now have the bagpipes correctly transposed (don't know how), but at A=440. The setting is interval -1 key alter -2. This suggests that the SmartMusic SoftSynth bagpipes are not tuned in D flat after all. If I c...

Re: transposing instrument - bagpipes!!
Thank you Peter, but I don't really understand your example. Have any VST instruments been assigned to the written score? In any case, I think I have solved my problem. I've only been able to find the bagpipes sound on SmartMusic SoftSynth, whereas the other instruments I'm using are Garritan. There...
