Re: transposing instrument - bagpipes!!
For some reason, even when I enter the transposition settings, the pitch of the bagpipes does not change in playback. I've tried several different settings, but the playback pitch remains the same, even though the key signature and written pitch of the intstrument is modified in the score. The instr...

transposing instrument - bagpipes!!
I have to include bagpipes in a piece I'm writing. These are apparently transposing instruments in D flat, but D flat is not included in the list of possibile tranpositions. After I click on 'Other', how should I input the interval and key alter? It should be down a minor second, but I'm not sure ho...

positioning flipped articulations
I'd like to position some articulation symbols further away from the noteheads they are attached to. There is no problem doing this when the symbol goes above the stave (i.e., the stem of the note involved goes down), but when the symbol must be placed below the stave (i.e., the stem of the note goe...

Re: Auto-number style
Mangaged to solve the problem, Peter.
It turned out that the culprit was the brackets (brace) which had been moved and no longer grouped both violin parts together.

Auto-number style
I've turned off 'Auto-number style' in score manager, but the violin parts in my score are still numbered I & II (the second violin in part has actually been renamed 'ripieno', but the number II still appears after it). How can I get rid of these numbers?

Tonica Fugata
Is anyone familiar with capella software's Tonica Fugata? I'd be interested in knowing something about its realization of figured basses. How does it handle voice leading and avoiding consecutive octaves and fifths? Is it worth buying?

how to set up Finale to open MIDI files on websites...
Does anyone know how to set up Finale to open the MIDI files that are sometimes found on websites? (Windows 10). Finale is not offered as one of the available apps in the Default Programs settings. There are a few websites with embedded MIDI files which cannot be downloaded, and so need to be played...

Re: repeats not being played after da capo al fine...
Further to my last post, I've tried using the settings in the document you prepared for me, Peter, but for some reason the first section in the first of the two minuets is still not being repeated. I cannot really understand this, since your document works perfectly but mine doesn't. I'm attaching m...

Re: repeats not being played after da capo al fine...
Thank you very much, Peter. Your revised version was basically what I was after; I discovered however two 'mistakes' that were obviously in my original file. Firstly there was no forward repeat sign in the the second part of Minuet 1. And secondly (in the da capo) when playing second section for the...

Re: repeats not being played after da capo al fine...
Thank you Zuill; your suggestion was most helpful and the problem is almost solved. The second repeat in the first minuet is now observed, but not the first. Could this be because the first repeat has first and second time endings? I realise that traditionally, repeats are not generally observed whe...

repeats not being played after da capo al fine...
I have two bipartite minuets that are to be played one after the other, then the first is to be played again ( al primo ). Everything works well in playback, except that the repeats are not played in the first minuet when the da capo takes place. What do I need to specify in the settings to get both...

Courtesy clef at beginning of stave (incipit)
I would like to place a courtesy clef at the beginning of the stave, before the standard treble clef, to indicate that the vocal line was originally notated in the soprano clef. I have seen that another Finale user asked for advice on the same topic a few years ago: http://www.finaleforum.com/viewto...

If I use the soprano clef for the vocal line of a score, is it possible to have the line notated in the treble clef in the extracted part?

word extension lines when setting lyrics...
I'm editing some 18th century vocal music, and I've noticed that when setting lyrics, word extension lines can take two forms in the case of a very long melisma: either a dashed line (continuation of the hyphen used to separate syllables) or a continuous coloured line (when the final syllable of a w...

Re: getting full stave names to appear later in document
That's what I'd thought of doing, Miker, but the problem is that I have to hide the abbreviated name to insert the full name as text, which means that the abbreviated name is then hidden for all the following staves.

getting full stave names to appear later in document
I have several hidden staves on the first page of a score, so I would like the names of the hidden instruments to appear in full when they eventually start playing later in the piece. How can I get the full names to appear on certain staves while the other instruments have abbreviated names?

Re: Positioning articulations...
I've removed half of the document, and have left in notes and articulations. You should be able to see where the + symbol is above notes with an inverted stem.

Re: Positioning articulations...
I've repositioned the + articulation in another document only to find that instead of giving me the 'flipped' articulation under the note when the stem is going upwards, Finale has inverted the note stem (so that it goes downwards, even when the note is below the third line of the stave), and then p...
