My experience is the same as Zuill's. When VST/AU samples are loaded, the first time to try to enter a note, the samples load first causing a delay in the start of the sound. After the samples are loaded into memory, then the sound is instantaneous. This is normal behavior.

You said that the last staves were added later. Did you generate parts before adding the staves? You need to do regenerate parts after you've added the staves.
