Topic: Adding a measure in Finale Note Pad

If you mean, at the end, just keep entering notes. Measures will be added automatically. If you want to add a measure in the middle, you would have to shift the music forward (select all the music from the insert point to the end, and drag it one measure to the right) and then delete the notes in th...

I'm not sure about 2008, but...

Select the measure with the measure tool, and look at the measure attributes. Is there a check box to hide cautionary clefs, time, and key signatures?

My suggestion would be to get SW2010, now. In 2011, they made changes to PrintMusic (supposedly a step above SongWriter) that actually downgraded the product. If they do the same with a new version of SW, you may lose features that are currently available.

No. Get SW2010. If you just got NotePad yesterday, it's unlikely that you have lots of files to deal with.

If you do have anything you don't want to lose or redo, export it from NP as an XML, and import it into SW the same way.

You can avoid leading rests, by launching the layer mid-measure. Also, uncheck Fill With Rests at end of Measure, in the Simple menu. Hide any others with the H key.

You would need to go (at least) to Songwriter2010 for both.

What version of NotePad are you using? Be aware that any work done in NP2011 will not open in SW2010. This is true across the entire Finale line: You can't go backwards.

It sounds like the fonts have become corrupted. Take a look at the Finale Knowledge Base. I believe there are a few articles pertaining to this, and telling you what to try.

Why not delete the old lyrics before you enter the new ones?

You can't. Set up a new document, and copy the music over to it.

That is complicated! Someone (not me!) should put together a library of Flamenco shapes and methods!

Some possibilities: the arrows can be found in the EngraverTextNCS and EngraverTextT fonts.

Example #4 can be done with one of the line tools.

You can create just about anything you want. If you can post a picture of what you need, maybe we can help you learn to do it.

Layers. A basic, important function in Finale. Do the tutorials, watch the videos, look up Layers in the help files.

1. If you have already entered the note, select it and hit the R key. 2. If you create the document from the Startup Wizard or one of the templates, the piano will have braces. Other brackets and braces can be added later, but the exact method depends on the program and version you are using. Look i...

That would be handled by the district, if they installed it in the first place. You can call Customer Service, and see if they can do anything.

Much better. That's done with layers. Layers are basic Finale functions. Read the help files, and do the tutorials, to make sure you understand them. In the first full measure, in layer 1, put the eighth rest, the eighth note chords, the quarter note chord, a quarter rest (hidden,) and the last eigh...
