The old version of Finale I have is the 2004 one, I believe, but it is installed in a separate partition of my drive via Parallels Desktop, and I have not got time to investigate it just now. I have found the. solution myself. I deleted the word, inserted a rest and more notes in the tenor part and then re-inserted the word under the first note without any hyphens. That did it.
