Slow performance in simple entry
Hey there, I'm encountering an old problem, Finale getting significantly slower the larger the file gets, e.g. between 1-3 seconds to delete a rest or add an augmentation dot in an almost empty measure. Unfortunately breaking it down to several files is not an option, since it s a one movement orche...

Re: Weird behavior in one-line staves
Hello Harald, Thanks so much, this is amazing. So I've copied and pasted your code into a new script and run it, but it doesn't seem to change the phenomenon. Have I done something wrong? I must say, I don't have any experience with FinaleScript, so it's possible (=probable) that I did something wro...

Re: Weird behavior in one-line staves
Thanks motet for taking the time to replicate the situation. "Glad" you experienced the same problem – it is indeed super weird. I just had the experience that mere scrolling changed the cursor behavior, so it works for a couple of measures, then not anymore. But it's still frustrating, time-consumi...

Re: Weird behavior in one-line staves
Thanks so much motet for your quick reply! :) Yes, so what I noticed was that it doesn't do that in all instances... Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't... But from many years of experience, I know this problem and probably managed to live with it because it doesn't do that all the time......

Weird behavior in one-line staves
Dear all, For years now I've been noticing a weird behavior with one-line staves, i.e. a very difficult placement of expressions and smart-shapes. When a regular one-line staff staff style is applied, the cursor doesn't show it's regular shape but has an additional arrow pointing towards the end of ...

Re: Straight flags?
Matt, I suggest that you submit a feature request to MakeMusic. Generally new features are prioritized after importance, and after how many users the feature will benefit. This new feature with “flip-able straight flags” may not be available already in the next Finale version, but getting it on Mak...

Re: Straight flags?
Hey,
thanks a bunch for the reply, motet.
I wasn't thinking of switching the side of the stem but of the flag, leaving the stem on the proper side, which I'd say is rather frequent in lots of contemporary music notation.
Any other hints out there?
Thx
Matt

Re: Straight flags?
Hello motet, Thanks for your quick reply. The example you provided is what I did by changing the settings in the document options, which is what I think you suggest. But what I'd like to do is to change the side of the flag for example if I have a triplet with quarter + eight note, that the flag poi...

Re: Straight flags?
Hello everyone, I see this is an old post, but I'm trying my luck again with the same issue. I've figured out how to implement the straight flags and understood from the example given here that changing the side on which the flag is positioned has been done so far by designing a custom stem. For sev...

Re: Multimeasure rests and descant/cue parts
Hey motet, thanks for your reply. I did the same thing and you're right, it works. Yes, there is something weird about the file, I also have one big bug in the sax part (that I cut out); although the file I uploaded is a new file where I just c&p'd some bars. I need the tape part for coordination si...

Re: Multimeasure rests and descant/cue parts
Dear Peter, dear zuill, thanks for your quick reply. @ Peter: This is exactly what I need, but unfortunately I can't recreate this in my file, even with update automatically deselected. More than that, I'm having the same troubles recreating the multimeasure rests in your document as zuill is report...

Re: Multimeasure rests and descant/cue parts
Sorry I just realized I was being sloppy with adapting the sample file (the original one was too big to attach, even partly). Here's it again (in the earlier file I forgot to change the part defintion. The section I'm unable to put multi-measure rests is between D and F. Sorry for the confusion and ...

Re: Multimeasure rests and descant/cue parts
Hello you two, thanks so much for your answer, and sorry for my late reply, I'm new to this forum and was expecting an e-mail in case anyone replies. @ motet: Hide empty staves is not an option since my staves are not really empty; their content is just irrelevant for the player since they don't need...

Re: Multimeasure rests and descant/cue parts
Hello everyone! I know this thread is old, but I'm having the exact same problem. Your example file is exactly what I need, but I'm unable to replicate it. The setting seems to be the same. Is there something I've forgotten? I'm in a linked part (flute) where I have added two more staves for referen...
