Re: organ > manual > inclosing smart shape
It's one of the "custom" SmartShapes. Ctrl+click on the pencil icon at the bottom of the the SmartShape palette and pick the one that looks like this 0662.png The draw one of these horizontally in your document. Right-click its handle and uncheck Make Horizontal. 0664.png Now double-click on the han...

Re: Reverse stem
I'm guessing you don't mean "reverse" its stem, which using Finale jargon would appear as I've shown below, but rather "flip" the stem. Select the measure in layer 2 and use Utilities/Stem direction. (There's no need for layer 2 since there's nothing in layer 1. This seems to be confusing Simple ent...

Try the Resize tool rather than the Page Layout tool.

Re: Changing time signature of a selected region or bar
I do this to move one measure (left and right). It doesn't seem to require a key delay. +PgUp::Send !u{Down}{Enter} +PgDn::Send !u{Up}{Enter} As I said, if Alt+U doesn't work reliably, you can likely replace it with a mouse move, unless you're in the habit of resizing your Finale window often. There...

Re: Changing time signature of a selected region or bar
In my case Finale 2014.5 is fine and Finale 27 is not on Windows 10, which would suggest it's not a Windows problem, but you never know. What's curious is that sometimes that U in Measure is underlined and sometimes it's not. And pressing the Alt key by itself is supposed to toggle the underlines in...

Re: Changing time signature of a selected region or bar
When that happens, you might try pressing and releasing all those keys, which might save you having to relaunch. I've only used Finale 27 to help people here, my workhorse version being 2014.5, but I've gotten virtually stuck keys a number of times in Finale 27, and almost never in 2014.5 (Windows 1...

Re: Changing time signature of a selected region or bar
A "virtual stick key"? Sometimes Finale thinks a key is pressed when it isn't, especially Shift, Alt, or Ctrl.

Re: TRUMPET Low F# Not Sounding--Gb Too
Any self-respecting trumpeter will be able to play down to F# easily, but it's true that register lacks power and won't necessarily sound good in ensemble writing.

Either change Finale from using ASIO or get an ASIO driver like FlexASIO.

Re: Bar Duration
I see now that there's a shape in the default Finale libraries that you can use to create an expression to do what you want in a single measure. Create this expression, use a staff style to get rid of the whole rest, then apply the expression, which can be stretched as you like. 10" is a separate ex...

Re: Copy Positioning on Parts that share a Score Stave?
Manual hairpin adjustment should be minimal if the hairpins were attached to beats properly, but it sounds like it's too late for that. I don't use the "voice" feature to separate parts, but I understand it has its limitation. You might experiment with JW Staff Polyphony to see how it does at teasin...

Re: Bar Duration
You can edit a multimeasure rest by right clicking on it, and get rid of the number by putting a larger number in the "Start numbering at" field. Then you can add your "ten seconds" as a expression. By default, multimeasure rest creation begins at two measures. You can change that to 1 in Document O...

Re: Auto save
Finale's Autosave and what's being requested here are not the same, of course. In the absence of saving every keystroke, as you describle, I find Autosave very useful in case Finale crashes. I have it save every 10 minutes, so if Finale crashes (seldom) I lose at most 10 minutes work (but an average...

Re: Auto save
When I spend several months doing a piece I save the .musx files in Finale literally hundreds of times (I don't ever leave it running overnight). I don't know about Time Machine, but Dropbox will automatically save some number of versions back but not hundreds. I copy the .musx file to Dropbox once ...

Re: Changing time signature of a selected region or bar
No need to hold down shift when double-clicking, either.
Single measures are special. To change only a single measure, you need to select the first Measure Region item in the Time Signature dialog.

Re: mover tool
On Windows, Alt+Down creates beam-between-the-staff cross-staff notation. Is there some setting I'm missing? Utilities, stem direction, up. Curiously, when I first entered this, keying L in Speedy worked, but now that won't work, but the Utilities way does. What has changed to cause the Speedy L to...

Re: TRUMPET Low F# Not Sounding--Gb Too
Playing the trumpet pitch when entering instead of the written pitch as if it was the concert pitch is a relatively new feature. Version 27 has it and version 2014.5 does not. Please check what you're hearing against a piano or your physical trumpet to be sure. Hearing a D when you enter a C makes n...

Are you using Display in Concert Pitch in the Document menu? In that case, if you entered a written C, you'd hear a trumpet D.

Re: mover tool
I was able to do what I think you want with ease using the demo version of F27 on a Mac. I selected each note to move in turn and keyed Option plus the down arrow. I expect the Windows equivalent is just as easy. On Windows, Alt+Down creates beam-between-the-staff cross-staff notation. Is there som...

I suspect you're just not understanding how to use the Note Mover tool. JW Change will only further confuse you at this point. Follow these instructions carefully: 1) Go to the Note Mover tool. In its menu, select Cross Staff : Image1.png 2) Click on the measure containing the notes you want to move...

Re: Playback in another key
I assume you mean in plays back in C instead of G. Go to the Score Manager, Instrument List. Select the instrument, click on Transposition, and set it to G. The close the Score Manager, pick the Key Signature tool, and click on the first measure. Change the key to G major, and select Tranpose: Down.
