You do not have to change the font, select Times New Roman as the font for the lyrics und select the script "Central European" on the left bottom side of the dialog box.

I assume you want to delete one line out of a score. Go to the staff system tool, you will get marks on every line of your score. select the one you want to delete and klick delete on your keyboard - that's all (maybe you will have to correct the spacing etc.)

You can install both versions, no problem.

Install your finale fonts again.

Set the time signature to one half note. Select "options..." and select the time signature 2/4 to be shown.

You do not have to change all the colours to black!! Just uncheck the option "use colours", that's enough.

create your document and save it as a ftm-file.

If you have staves you do not want to be optimized, you can set this in the staff attributes (f.e. piano staves).

What I need is to be able to have X-number of staves in one part of a song and then Y-number and perhaps back to X-number before moving on to Q-number. Whenever I add staves, though, it adds them throughout the song - I want to be able to control which measures get those extra staves. :? Finale add...

Enter a note and then use the backspace key to change it to a rest. And use the user manual...

Look, if the region 58 to 61 is defined as a multimeasure rest!
It happens that you have a multimeasure rest and afterwards you enter music in these measures. Finale shows only the first measure and not the others until you break the mulitimeasure rest.

Sorry, I was not clear. After optimization you have to change back to the staff system tool to get the handles you need.

You have to optimize at least these staves (page layout tool), then you get a new handle and you can drag the staves only for one line.

I will probably upgrade to Fin2008 when the German release is out, the possibility of combining two or more files to a score seems to be worth the money. Does it work correctly?
