you probably have defined your time signature as 12 eight notes. Do it as 4 dotted quarters and you will get correct rests.

NO, you cannot change the extension and see the music in Word. What you can do is: print your music to a pdf-file. You can do it easily on a Mac, you will need software (freeware is available) on a PC.

"show active layer only" is the trick. menu view or file depending which version of finale you are using

In the full version of finale there is a possibility to set the final bar to have a final bar line always.
To create a new page you have to create new measures! Add measures with the measure tool, this will solve both your problems.
