Re: Placement of dynamics above/below by layer
Well, as no one uttered any interest up to now, I did not enhance it in any way. I put that snippet together to show what would be basically possible. If anyone is interested and has a clue about how hairpins should be handled (specifically: in which case they should go above the staff, in which ca...

Re: Placement of dynamics above/below by layer
I need to place dynamics above the stave for layer 1 and below, for layer 2. Is there a simply way to do this other than producing two versions of each dynamic with different specified positioning? Yes, there is. Just for illustration, consider this JWLua code snippet: local expressions = finale.FC...

Re: MacOS: Get number of parts as a System Variable
Finale provides significant metadata to Spotlight, including a list of the Parts in the document. See "Get Info > More Info" in the Finder. You can access this information in AppleScript. Possibly using the shell command mdls in a 'do command' call. Hi BuonTempi, That's a good start. Unfortunately ...

Re: Change Enharmonic - Transposing Instruments & Chord Symbols
1) I am not sure about the 7 chord’s extension: b5 or #5 ? 2) In a context with a key signature of 3 sharps I do not see anything wrong with the chord roots G# and C#. The 2-5 is a Tritone Sub to C, that's why the b5 in the dominant and my prefs for Db. If we were to go to F# then, you're right, my...

Actually,
Just to get the number to appear in a window or field would already be more than enough.

MacOS: Get number of parts as a System Variable
Hi Forum,
This is a tech-savvy question. On MacOS, is there any way, by Finale Script, or other, to get the number of parts of a file translated into a MacOS System Variable so I can use it in AppleScript?
Thank you,
Best,

Change Enharmonic - Transposing Instruments & Chord Symbols
Hi Forum,
In the screenshot you can see an F# and a B chord that, through transpositon, become a G# and a C#.
Is there a way to change the enharmonic to Ab & Db?
Thank you,

Parts: Missing Measure Numbers
Hi Forum,
In my parts, at some system breaks, my measure nos. are lost.
To me it seems at random, but I'm sure there's something I'm missing.
Score displays measure nos. correctly.
Any ideas?
Thank you

Re: Parts, PDFs, & File Name Prefixes
This revision is fantastic! I just exported 32 true black parts from a full score, with correct page size, into the original document's folder with auto numbering and auto part naming in less than three minutes and with only 3 mouse clicks! WOW! (iMac Pro - Mojave - Finale 26.2) So now to ask for t...

Re: Parts, PDFs, & File Name Prefixes
Hello apkyburz , I tried your revised macro - works as you describe - bravo! Is it possible to still automate the process with auto-naming the parts when using the menu item GRAPHICS > EXPORT PAGES instead of print-to-pdf? Hi again, So, here's the revised version going through the Graphics Tool. Th...

Re: Parts, PDFs, & File Name Prefixes
Hello apkyburz , I tried your revised macro - works as you describe - bravo! Thank you. Re: Parts, PDFs, & File Name Prefixes
Hello apkyburz , I am uploading this Keyboard Maestro macro for you to try, and look at to possibly refine (it's rough). Hi bakkumd, I took your input and refined the macro a bit. Part name doesn't need to be typed anymore, all automatic! Also, export is now PDF, not JPEG. The macro will find the f...

Hello apkyburz , I am uploading this Keyboard Maestro macro for you to try, and look at to possibly refine (it's rough). It is activated by pressing "`" (the key just to the left of the "1" key). Before you press "`", know how many parts you wish to export. The macro will ask you to enter that numb...

Re: Parts, PDFs, & File Name Prefixes
I wrote myself an Autohotkey script to solve that issue. I do lead two jazz orchestras and thus have the urgent need to have fast access to nearly 1000 parts and scores in PDF format, which is only possible using strict naming conventions. To check completeness, it's necessary to have the files in ...

Parts, PDFs, & File Name Prefixes
Hi Forum,
On MacOS, is there a way to add a number-prefix when saving parts as PDF files?
E.g.:
1 - Wagner - Siegfried_Act_2 - Piccolo.pdf
2 - Wagner - Siegfried_Act_2 - Flute.pdf
...
xy - Wagner - Siegfried_Act_2 - Contrabass.pdf
Thanks,
apkyburz

Now I am confused. According to your Forum Profile (shown to the right in your posts) your Operating System is Mac OS. But PL is {Windows only} ?!? Hi Forum,
Quick question:
I have some measure numbers that got hidden when I ran PL with the "hide multimeasure numbers" ticked.
Now, is there a way to quickly reveal all of them?
Thank you,
Best

Expression Categories - same point size, different actual size
Hi Forum, There is something that I'm not getting the hang of: If you check the pictures, I have 2 different expression categories. Both have the same 'point size', 14-points. But for some reason one category is displayed much larger than the other on paper. Both expressions have the box ticked at "...
