Hi all,
Its been years since I used finale, and am trying to save some money by using notepad. I'm attempting to stack chords on a grand staff for my church handbell ensemble. What I have is a whole note in the bass bells and then "bell chords" in the tenor and treble bells. How do I accomplish this? I thought I remembered from my music tech class back in 05, but it seems things have changed

Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to the forum!

You tell that there is a whole note in the bass.
I suppose that the tenor and treble bells have smaller note durations, like half notes or quarter notes - right?
And I suppose that they are all in the same staff - right?

Use layers.
Put the top part in Layer 1.

Ok....so that worked for one extra voice, but wasn't able to add more than one.

If they have the same rhythm, you can keep them in the same layer, and add multiple noteheads on the same stem.

Does that solve your problem?

Its not stacked in the same rhythm...they're parts that enter at a different time. So, whole note in the bass, then a tied quarter in the tenor bell, and a single quarter tied to the the next measure in the treble.

In that case I would use three layers.
Put the treble in Layer 1, the tenor in Layer 2, and the bass in Layer 3.
And move the Layer 3 bass whole note slightly to the right.

The problem will be on Peter's last step. You can't shift a note with NotePad.

Well, I convinced my school to go ahead and get the full version. Now I'm able to do do it. Thanks for all the help. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions!
