Layers in Allegro 2007 (Windows)???

Is there a way in which I can use both a rhythmic notation and notes in the same measure? If so, how is it done? I need a half note rhythmic notation one one layer and two eighths and a quarter note on another in the same measure. However, when I tried to use the layer function I could either use notes or a rhythmic notation but not both. Something like in the attachment (which was done by someone else in another program).
