Demo version of Allegro? And why no VST?

It seems like all versions of Finale have demo versions you can try out, except Allegro. Is that accurate, or am I just missing it somewhere?

Also: does anyone know why Finale and PrintMusic support VST/AU instruments and effects, but Allegro doesn't?

It is because the demo of Allegro is from 2007. There are no plans for MakeMusic to update Allegro. I has been abandoned as a product. PrintMusic has come a long way. You should probably try that unless you can afford the full Finale. Some people, however, are upset that the 2011 version of PrintMusic doesn't do a couple of things that they could manage to get PrintMusic 2010 to do.

It looks like it's going to be PrintMusic then, until I can afford Finale.

By the way, I notice you use Garritan Personal Orchestra--do you happen to know if that programs works with PrintMusic? I know it works for Finale, and the VST capability of PM makes me think it will work there as well, but I'm not sure.

I believe that it does, although I don't use PrintMusic, so I can't say for sure.
