When I'm creating a score for the piano, is it possible to create dynamics that apply only to one layer. I hate the way the playback plays every single note at the same volume. The melody gets drowned out and It sounds awful!

thanks in advance

I couldn't find a way to do this in Finale (although there may be one,) but even if it can be done there, I don't think you can do it in PM.

Sorry.

This is just an idle thought, but if you're trying to create a sound file with some of the piano notes sounding softer than others, could it be done by scoring the piece for two pianos? Put loud dynamics on one piano part, and softer dynamics on the other; then score the notes appropriately for each.

It seems to be a given, that using Finale PM requires two files: one that plays the way you want it to sound, and another that looks the way you want it to, on paper.

That just triggered another thought. Could you do it as two, single staves, one bass and one treble, playing as piano, on different channels, and group them with a bracket? (I'm on the road today, so I can't check on the computer.)
