Hi, I am trying the 2011a version of Finale PrintMusic on a PC laptop, and I need to notate some harmonics for a piece for solo cello. Is it possible to notate natural and false harmonics by writing both a solid note and a white diamond a particular interval above it, both attached to the same stem?
(example: the solid note is the A-string, and the harmonic location is E which will sound an E one octave up)
I have tried going to the Simple Entry Tool menu and selected the Laptop Shortcut Set, to no avail.
In the Help Reference, Maestro Font Character Set, there is a "noteheads" chart with a diamond (Alt+0225). How do I input that keystroke combination into the program to produce the harmonic note which I described in my first paragraph?
I hope it's possible. The articulation tool diamond shape (#19) is not the stemmed harmonic notation that I need.
Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the Forum.
You can do it for print, but not for playback. Take a look at the tutorial "X-noteheads in PrintMusic" at http://www.specialmillwork.com/finaletips.htm. The procedure is the same, except that you won't hide your original note, just add the diamond to the stem. Or, you can use the articulation; just move it to the stem.

For Your Information:
Since you are using PrintMusic, you do not have all the options of the "full Finale".
Layout with harmonics is easier to do in the full Finale, since it has a plug-in that can do the work for you:
Plug-In menu > TG Tools > Easy Harmonics…
Unfortunately you can't use plug-ins with PrintMusic - only the full Finale supports plug-ins.

Thank you so much!!
After getting to Maestro font (in PrintMusic) as you instructed, I was able to type a diamond (capital "O) in size 24, then flip my existing stems and place the diamond at the appropriate interval.
Problem solved, composition completed!
