I have Finale Printmusic 2011 on a Windows 7 computer, and I've had it for almost a year now. I got home from a music camp to find that whenever I try to put in dynamics anywhere or change dynamics anywhere, it pauses, the loading sign pops up, and then it tells me that the program has encountered a problem. After a few seconds of thinking, it tells me again that there's a problem and I click "close program", the only choice left.

I can still put in notes and even use the accent tools, but when I do anything with dynamics, Printmusic 2011 fails me, even when I use the keyboard shortcuts. I tried uninstalling it and re-installing it with the CD, but it did the same thing. My brother uses the trial version on his laptop and dynamics work fine there.

Is there any way I can fix this without buying a whole new program?

You certainly don't have to buy a new program!

Is this in all documents, or just one particular one? If it's just in one, does it do the same thing for your brother?

Can you do a system rollback, to before you went to camp, and try it again?

I don't know what that is and I wouldn't know how to do that :(

Look in your windows help files. It's a method of rolling back to an earlier setting, possibly before updates may have been automatically applied. You won't lose any day if you do this.

I did a system rollback to the earliest it could have and the problem still exists on the computer :(

In that case, try uninstalling and reinstalling the program. You might also try setting up a new user account, and see if it works, there. Note: This is a TEST, not a solution. If it works in a new account, you will know that something in your personal account is conflicting. Then, you can look for the specific problem.

I completely uninstalled it, shut the computer down, turned it on, installed it, same problem. I am getting my own laptop in a few weeks with Finale 2012 (or a newer one if they come out with it by then) on it, so this problem will no longer be an issue to me. I could not figure out what the problem was, but I truly appreciate your support through this. Thanks so much!
