I have a guitar staff and I want to populate it with chords so that PrintMusic plays the correct voicing. (When I use the symbols, e.g. G7, it selects its own voicing that cannot be altered). OK, so I type in all six notes for the first G. Now I want to repeat that same G chord three more times in the measure - and a whole bunch of times elsewhere in the piece. And maybe change some of the G's from quarter notes to eight notes etc. (Crochets and quavers, if you prefer). Now, Select All or Crtl-a appears to select the chord but Copy and Paste are greyed out in the Edit menu and Crtl-v does not copy.

I just tried it, and it works for me. Are you selecting the region with the chord? (That is, part of the measure should turn blue.) When you've done that, you ought to have full control over copy and paste.

This works for me (in Finale):

Selection Tool (not Simple Entry Tool).
Drag around the duration of the first quarter note chord. NB: You must begin the dragging outside the staff.
This step will select the beat region of the first beat in the measure.

Now you can copy the music on first beat in the measure.

Drag-select the second beat.

Now you can paste the copied music into the second beat.

Repeat the steps for the third beat and the fourth beat.

What Peter said. You can also use the Paste Multiple command, and paste it 3 times in the measure. Or, you can simply drag your selection to the next beat(s).

Aha! The key was using the Selection Tool (the upleft arrow). Now I must get the hang of the Paste part. It gets rather excited and makes all kinds of changes if I don't stay on top of it. Hurrah for Ctrl-z.

Thank you, Peter and Miker.
