I'm writing a percussion score for Music Man Medley for our Drum Corps and when the key sig changes to 6/8 time for "76 Trombones"the playback plays the 6/8 a lot SLOWER than the previous 4/4 parts Any idea what going on? I use FPM 2009 but that shouldn't matter.
ANY help appreciated!

My first guess would be that the tempo for the eighth note is the same in 4/4 and 6/8.
Since 1 beat in 4/4 equals 1 quarter = 2 eighths, and 1 beat in 6/8 equals 1 dotted quarter = 3 eighths, the tempo for 6/8 feels a lot slower than the tempo for 4/4.
You probably need the tempo for the beat to be the same in 4/4 and 6/8, so that
1 beat in 4/4 = 1 beat in 6/8.
To get that tempo relationship you must add a tempo change at the 6/8.
Without any tempo change at the 6/8 the tempo relationship between 4/4 and 6/8 will be as described in the beginning of my post.
