How can I delete the break in the score from a coda system?

Postby saragiita » Fri Aug 18, 2017 3:04 am

I created a coda system, but then had to move it. Now I can't get rid of the break in the staff even though I deleted the coda. There is just a random vertical break between two measures. I am using Finale PrintMusic 2014 for Windows, any suggestions?

Switch to the staff tool. Grab the handle at the upper left of the right hand system, and drag it down, lower than the left hand system.

Switch to the Page Layout tool. You will see the margins that you have to drag, so that you can stretch the left system to the right, and the right system to the left. Then, you can use the staff tool to adjust things, and move measures into those systems to make everything right.

It sounds confusing, but it works pretty easily.

Thanks. Using your instructions I could move the measures over. The problem is that there is an extra clef, brace, "Pno" etc. after the break and I don't know how to change that.

You should be able to click on it, and delete it. If that doesn't work, post the file, and we will see what needs to be done.

Thank you. I could not delete the clefs or extra key signatures.

The system on the right, with the clefs and key signatures, belongs to the next page. With the staff tool, drag the right hand system down, so it moves to the next page. Then, use the Page Layout tool to adjust the margins of both the left hand system on the original page, and the right hand one on the next page, so that they are both the width of the page margins. Then you can move measures up or down as needed, or the Fit Measures command, to make all the systems contain the correct number of measures, and use the Page Layout tool>Space systems evenly to put two systems on each page.

I can't post the fixed file, because I did it in PrintMusic (to make sure that it could be done) and my PM is an expired demo.

But trust me, it works!
