I'm working on an SSA choral piece using Finale Print Music 2014 and Windows and I'm having multiple issues with inserting lyrics. First, although I have checked the boxes in the Lyric Tool that number the verses and automatically insert hyphens between syllables, neither of those requests are happening. The odd thing about the verse numbering is that it WILL number verses 2 and 3, but not verse 1. I also can't put lyrics in the space between the second soprano and alto lines. Every time I try, it automatically moves the lyrics of the first soprano line into the space between the systems. What am I doing wrong?

You mean staves or systems? Do you have two staves or three?

Lyrics must be attached to the correct layer. So, if soprano is layer 1 and alto is layer 2, you have to be in that layer to correctly attach lyrics.

A screen shot of your situation might let us give you better suggestions.
