Is there a way to put in spoken parts into PrintMusic?

Just to clarify, is there a way to make the notes with x's on them signifying a spoken, rhythmic part

As long as the spoken words are not on the same staff as singing, here is a workaround.
In the file "instrument.txt", add the following instrument definition, modeled after the snare drum:
-------------------------------------------
[INS:Spoken]
Name = Spoken Words
Abbr = Spk
useKeySigs = 0
Transposition = 0
StaffType = single
Clef = altpercussion
Patch =
PercMap = Snare Drum
-------------------------------------------
Then, add the following line after "GRP:vocals"
-------------------------------------------
Spoken = x
-------------------------------------------
You might have to exit and re-enter PM to do it, but now under Staff Tool you can add a staff whose instrument is "Vocals," and to which you can supply lyrics over x-head rhythms.
