I wrote a choral for organ and 4 voices, and at the beginning I have a very large intro, reson why I have now unused measures that I would like very much NOT to have it there in the score until they begin. Every time I hide a stave PRINTMUSIC hide them for the hole document, which is unusefull.
How can I hide this unused measures in Print Music 2008?
by the way, I ´m very happy with this program should I upgrade for the 2010? does any one have info about?
Thanks in advance.

Removal of staves where they are empty, is called "Optimization" in Finale lingo.

When you optimize the page layout (Page Layout Tool), you enable "Allow Individual Staff Spacing" in all the systems.
"Allow Individual Staff Spacing" also means "Allow Individual Staff Removing".

Switch to the Staff Tool where you will see, that each staff in each system now has an extra, lower staff-handle on the lowest staff-line.
Select that handle, and hit the delete key, to remove the staff from that system only.

You should also look at the article, "Hiding Staves in PrintMusic" on my tips page, at http://www.specialmillwork.com/finaletips.htm

The best advice I can give you about upgrading is to look at the improvements since 2008, and see if they would help you. 2008 was a great version, with the changes to the selection tool. 2009 and 2010 added improvements to the expression tool and the percussion, as well as a number of other tweaks. You could also download the demo of 2010, and try it out for a month.

I can't find a way to optimize in printmusic 2011

The optimize function is not in my pageview icon and the adjust individual spacing is no longer available under the staff view.

You can no longer hide empty measures in individual systems in PrintMusic. 2010 was the last version that allowed that. Disregard anything to the contrary. You can't do it. Sorry.

The manual says you can remove entire staves. It does not say you can remove them from individual systems. It ***. That's why I recommend that users stay with either PrintMusic 2010 or SongWriter 2010, if that feature is important to your work.
