Can someone please help me understand how to enter rests with my Finale Print Music? My son is trying to write out a guitar song in tablature. Everything is working great until he tries to put a whole rest in a measure. We are clicking the simple entry tool and then clicking "whole rest" in the rest palette and clicking the measure. It shows up, but it won't stay there. When you move the cursor, it goes away. What are we doing wrong? Thanks.

Are you entering your notes directly into the TAB staff? Normally, rests aren't shown in TAB. It would just be an empty measure. That's why you would often see standard notation written above the TAB: to give you that extra information.

If you enter a whole rest (or any other rest and note measure) into the standard notation staff, and then drag the notes to the TAB staff, you will see what I mean.
