width of measures

how do i change the width of the measures? I usually end up with some measures squished together and at the end there are 2 or 3 really wide measures across the whole page.

Are you using SongWriter 2010? If so, select the measures and apply music spacing and update layout (CTRL+4, CTRL+U.) You can also move measures to the previous or following system manually by selecting the measure, and hitting the up or down arrow.

If you have an older version of SongWriter, or you are using NotePad, you can't do this.
