SW 2012 Editing stacked notes
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
I spent time in the tutorial learning how to enter stacked notes on the staff, but I can't figure out how to edit them. i.e. change pitch of 1 note or remove 1 note.
When I click on a note the entire stack of notes is selected. I can never seem to select just 1 note in the stack.
Please help. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!
Are you using Windows or Mac OS X?
When you, from the Selection Tool, double-click a note-stack, you may happen to select the entire stack.
To move the selection to a single note, hold down the correct modifier key *), and hit the UpArrow key or the DownArrow key.
*) Which modifier key that is the right key, depends on whether you are using the Windows version or the Mac version.
In the Mac version it is the Command key.

Thanks, Peter! I'm using Windows 7 Professional Edition.
I tried both CTRL and ALT and I couldn't get either to work.
I ended up right clicking on the chord of stacked notes, selecting Clear All, and re-entered the stacked notes.

In Windows, it is the CTRL key. I just tried it in SW2012, and it works as it should. Select the chord, and hold the CTRL key down, while you tap the up or down arrows.

For some reason, I can't get that to work. I hold the CTRL key and when I up or down arrow the entire highltighted stack of notes flashes up or down, as though it's going to move on the staff, but it doesn't... and the highlight remains on the entire stack of notes.
I should add, I have 2 staffs, and the staff with the problem is the bottom staff, if that makes any difference.

It shouldn't make a difference. Does it work correctly on the upper staff? Can you post the file?
You will have to compress the file to upload it, and it must be less than 100KB.

Mike, thanks again for offering your assistance. It was user error. I think I was using the Selection tool alone, without clicking on Simple Note Entry icon first. I watched the video on Note Editing, again, and did just what it said, and it worked.
I was trying to learn 2 different notation programs simultaneously and I think that was really messing me up.
I've decided to upgrade my trial version to the full version next payday. Your support played a role in my decision.
