Hi !
Is it possible to insert a note between other ones (without to delete them !) with the simply entry tool ?
Pat.

Yes, it is possible.

With the Speedy Entry Tool you position the crosshair on the beat/scale step where you want the inserted note, hold down Shift, and hit the number key for the desired note value, e. g. the number 5 key for a quarter note.

With the Simple Entry Tool you can click the note in with the mouse.

Be aware, though, that the must be "room" in the measure for the note value, so that you don't "overfill" the measure.

Yes. I just did it.

Simple entry, with a mouse. If you are trying to insert a note into a measure that is already filled, or if your note will overfill the measure, in the Simple menu, uncheck "Check for extra notes." Use the mouse to click in the new note. Then you can delete the extra beats.

If the measure is not filled, just click in the new note.

In Songwriter, is there any way for the extra notes to be bumped into the next measure?

Ron,
Using the full Finale and Speedy, can't you move the extra notes to the next measure?

(It doesn't work automatically, though, which is what I suspect the poster is asking.)

Speedy will do it "automatically" when you overfill a measure without cutting and pasting, but you must reply to a prompt in each measure.

That's what I meant. But IIRC, SongWriter does not have Speedy.
