I work this in Finale 2011 for Windows.

I imported the Lyrics from a Word document. I put the Lyrics through Click Assignment.

For some reason now I see some unwanted Lyrics on some measures ahead.

When I try to delete them through Type into Score, at the same time the words in the imported Word document are being deleted, as well.

How could I delete the unwanted Lyrics without affecting the Lyrics of the imported Word document, please?

I appreciate your help.

How are you importing lyrics from Word into SongWriter? As far as I can tell, there is no click assignment.

jose oscar,

You have posted your question in the forum for Finale SongWriter.

But you have several times written that you are using the full Finale 2011.

I assume that you are still using the full Finale 2011, and just happened to post in the wrong forum this time.

You can "delete" lyrics in two ways:

1) Remove lyrics from the Lyrics window.
This step will remove the lyrics from the document.

2) Clear lyrics from the layout.
This step will remove the lyrics from the layout, but the lyrics will remain in the Lyrics window (so that you can click assign the lyrics again).

If I understand you correctly, you want to do step 2).

To clear lyrics from the layout:
Selection Tool.
Select the region from which you want to clear the lyrics.
Edit menu > Clear Selected Items…
In the dialog box Clear Selected Items, de-select everything except "Lyrics".

Thank you, Peter.
I worked that way.
I'm using Finale 2001, not Songwriter. It's true, I was wrong posting the message in the wrong place.

Peter, thank you for this very helpful post. You have saved me from both insanity and despair.
