I'm relatively new to Songwriter, and today, when I opened a new file, all I get are notes which have the letter "a" instead of the usual note. I cannot for the life of me, figure out how to change this back to using regular noteheads. Nor do I have a clue how or what this setting is supposed to do or how I got there. Any help would be greatly appreciated - very frustrating, this.

On second look, these aren't alpha notes. Most of the note heads appear as the lowercase letter "a". There are a few cap letters and Euro symbols. Nothing is displaying properly. The Maestro font is loaded, and I quit Songwriter and trashed the prefs (I'm on a Mac). The score looks more like some wacked out mathematical equation and the Songwriter software is therefore unusable.

It sounds like there is a problem with the music fonts.

As a first step I would re-install the fonts.

You can download the font pack from makeMusic’s web site.
