Hi, I am trying to add in a grace note that is tied to a piece I am rewriting, and am having trouble adding it in. Also I am trying to add in a grace note to a triplet.

I have attached a picture of what I am trying to do.

Use the grace note Simple Entry icon to click the notes onto the staff. (The Help entry is wrong.)

1) The curved line in the image is not a tie, but rather a slur.

You can add the slur with the Smart Shape Tool.
When the Smart Shape Tool's sub-tool Slur Tool is selected. double-click on the first slur note, but don't release the mouse button.
Drag forwards until the last slur note is selected, then release the mouse button.
To slur only two notes, just double-click the first note.

2) The "odd looking foot print symbol" is a fermata symbol from a "manuscript" font, probably the Jazz font.
As you can see, the Jazz font isn't very readable.

If you want your engraving to look like a manuscript, consider using an other (and more readable) "manuscript" font than the Jazz font, e. g. the BroadwayCopyist font.

Hi Peter Thomsen, and thanks for your help. I still need help with the Grace note Tuplet. Yes the Jazz Font is hard to read, which is why I am rewriting it, so it will be readable.

Have you tried Mike's idea (entering the tuplet except the grace note, and then clicking the grace note onto the staff)?
It works for me.

Hi, I have tried that and it does not work, my only other guess here is that it is in another layer, or I have no clue.

What steps are you following, exactly?

Here are the steps that work for me (tuplet already entered except the grace note):

1) Click on the Simple Entry Palette to select Eighth Note Tool and Grace Note Tool (see the attached screen shot).

2) Click where you want to insert the grace note.
It may be easier to click in the correct spot if you view the score at a high zoom percentage.
