entering rests

hello

how do I enter a rest using the keyboard in Finale 2007

or without going up to the drop down menu using simple entry rest??

Are you using Simple entry, or Speedy Entry? By "keyboard", do you mean a MIDI keyboard, or the computer keyboard?

For Simple Entry, computer keyboard, hit the 0 key on the numberpad.

Also in simple entry: press the [r] key to convert the last note entered to a rest. (You can also toggle it back into a note by a second pressing of [r].)
