How do I get the crescendo (and decrescendo) to apply to all the parts? Everytime I use the smart shape tool it just adds it to one part and I was just wondering if there was a way I could make it have a cresendo (the shape, not the "cresc") for all parts. I'm using Finale 2006.

I'm not sure, what Smart Shape you are using?
Hairpin?
Dashed line with the word "cresc." at the beginning?

You can't make Smart Shapes automatically appear in all staves.
The feature "Staff List" is available only for expressions and repeats.
But you can copy the Smart Shapes to the other staves:

Go to
Mass Edit menu > Items to Copy...
and specify that you want to copy only Smart Shapes assigned to measures.

Instead of using a Smart Shape, you can create the crescendo as a measure expression.
In that way, the "Staff List" feature is available.
If you in the Shape Expression Designer leave the option "Allow Horizontal Stretching" selected, the shape expression will stretch, as the measure is stretched out due to layout changes.
Note, however, that when a Shape Expression dashed line is stretched, the distance between the dashes will also be stretched.

Yeah, I was using the hairpin smart shape. But thanks for clearing that up that the smart shapes can't be put on all staves. I guess I'll just use the "cresc" at the beginning idea.
