Hi, I'm brand new to this forum and pretty new with finale.

I was wondering how to do a drum roll. The index in the manual told me to use a tremelo, but I'm not sure how yet.

Well I'd really like it on layout as well as playback.

1. Layout:
The drum roll abbreviated notation is "slashes across the stem".
You can enter the slashes as articulations.
If your document was created from the Default File (the Document Setup Wizard uses the Default File), there are ready made articulations with slashes in your document.
In my copy of the Default File, they are articulations #32 (1 slash - metatool '6'), #33 (2 slashes - metatool '7'), and 34 (3 slashes - metatool '8').

2. Playback:
There are 2 ways to get playback:
A. Hidden notes in Layer 4 (use the plug-in: Plug-in menu > TGTools > Smart Playback...)
B. Human Playback (see the window Playback Controls - if you click the expansion triangle, the window will expand, and you get a pop up menu with Human Playback styles)
