Hello all,

I'm trying to make my stave look like the following in the picture, but I can't seem to make the 8th notes to come apart (I don't know how to explain it, I will just post the pictures).

Could anyone suggest how to do this?

Thanks,

Manually, type / on the A (in Speedy)
Globally on a document, Document Options -> Beaming, uncheck the box that says "Beam 3 eighth notes before/after eighth rest".
This will work for future entries. To correct existing entries, use Utilities -> Rebeam -> Rebeam Music.

I think they want three eighth notes beamed after a rest, so one would check that box, not uncheck it.

/ works in Simple Entry too. Put the cursor on the middle note and press /.

Ah, you're right! I didn't notice the second caption below.

In Simple, you don’t just put the cursor on the note. You have to select the note (by double-clicking) and then you tap the / key.

I meant the Simple Entry cursor, not the mouse cursor, but maybe that's a misnomer (in Speedy entry there's actually a line). Thanks for clarifying.
