Hello again.

Is there any way to make time signatures only temporarily independent in Finale 2012c? I have a lot of 12/8-4/4 situations in multiple staves and I'd like to be able to move easily from one to the other without having to go through each staff individually to change them once they all line up again.

Thanks!

I am afraid I don't understand.

What do you mean by your words "move easily from one to the other"?
from one staff to the other?
from one time signature to the other?

And what do you mean by your word "move"?
Are you talking about moving the crosshair in the Speedy Entry Tool?

What do you mean by your words "once they all line up again"?
which items "line up again"? - barlines?

Sorry, I wasn't clear and haven't figured out how to post the sections of music on the forum.

I'm working in a score where frequently one staff is in 4/4 while another is in 12/8. In order to do this I set some staves to independent time signatures. I am wondering if I can make a staff independent for only a section of the piece, or if they must remain independent throughout.

Use a staff style.

A task like this is exactly what staff styles are meant for, namely altering the Staff Attributes "locally".

Now I'm afraid I don't understand. This looks like what I did. But is there a way to have it only affect a select number of measures, say for example mm 22-36, after which the staff will stop being independent?

My first guess is that you did this in the dialog box Staff Attributes
(I did this in the the dialog box Staff Styles).

Staff Attributes are "global" (= in all the measures of the entire document).

If you instead create a staff style, you can apply that staff style "locally" to only
"a select number of measures, say for example mm 22-36".

I hope that this is clear?
If not, ask again.
