Hi!
This could be easy, but I cannot find how to do it.
I have a piece that playbacks as Andante and in measure 10 it is noted as Presto. Players do this second part at a much higher tempo. But how do I instruct Finale 2007 to increase the tempo only for this part?

Use two expressions - with playback effect Tempo.
One expression at the beginning, setting the Andante tempo.
And another expression in measure 10, setting the Presto tempo.

Thank you. It worked. But I still have a problem: the change to Presto tempo is not at the beginning of measure 10 but on the second beat of it (it's a 4x4). Looks like the Tempo tool only allows to set it at the beginning of a measure. Any way to make the change exactly when needed?

I am a little confused.
You mention the Tempo Tool.
Are you using the Tempo Tool?
Or are you using the Expression Tool?
From your description it sounds like you have entered the tempo expression as a Measure Expression.
In the Text Expression Designer, in the chiclet Measure Expression you can specify the Measure Alignment Point.
From your description it sounds like the Measure Expression has its Measure Alignment Point defined as "Start Of Time Signature".
If you change the Measure Alignment Point to "Horizontal Click Position", you can have the Measure Expression aligned to any beat in the measure.
And you can tell Finale to begin Playback at "Position in Measure".
This is done in the dialog box Measure Expression Assignment.
If you are using the Tempo Tool (instead of the Expression Tool), you can specify, on what beat in the measure the tempo adjustment should take place.
This is done in the dialog box Tempo Adjustment.
