Finale Songwriter 2012 on Windows 7

I'm transcribing a piece to transpose it. It has a lot of tuplets (triplets), mostly eighth notes (quavers), firstly in a quarter note (crotchet) pick up measure (bar) and several measures (bars) with double tuplets (triplets).

In either case, Songwriter is refusing to let me enter the last note of the measure (bar). The best I can enter is a dotted sixteenth (dotted semi-quaver) and it than adds a sixty-fourth rest.

Any advice most welcome.

There are several ways to enter tuplets.

As you have found out, your way of entering tuplets makes it difficult to end a measure with a tuplet.
The problem is that you temporarily are “overfilling” the measure, namely until the “real note” has been turned into a “tuplet note”.

Fortunately there is a simple solution:
De-select “Check for Extra Notes”.

Many thanks Peter. That works fine.
