Can someone instruct me how I get back the playback settings icon, that looks like a audio speaker, back on the screen?

Is it just the symbol or the whole playback control part?
Have a look at your window menu. The line with "playback control" should be checked.

duh..took some time but I figured it out. Had to undock the playbac
k toolbar so it could expand to full size and reveal the icon.
