Hi All,
I'm trying to establish a snare drum part in an orchestral score, without luck so far.
I went to window, then into score manager.
For name, I selected all / drums / snare drum.
For device, I selected Garritan.
For sound, I selected percussion / snareline.
I then used my keyboard to located events on the middle line of the staff (onto a single line staff).
I wonder where I went wrong in this sequence of steps.

Are you getting the wrong look or the wrong sound? Snareline is for Marching Percussion. Maybe you want a different Layout. Or, just create your own, since there's just one instrument. If that is too confusing, maybe post your file so we can see how to fix it.

Wrong sound.
I have deleted notes and measures in the attached, but left the layout.
Any assistance appreciated.

When I enter the Snare, it sits above the line and plays a snare (MIDI note 60). If the snare sound is what you want, you can edit the Layout so that the snare is on the middle line. Is that what is needed?

P.S.: There's actually a layout called Basic Orch Perc 1-line. That already has the Snare on the line.

By seeing your edit on my file, I was able to work out what I need to do, at least part way. (I won't get into elementary details.)
I may be back shortly with a layout question, but perhaps not.
Thanks!

I still have a couple problems.
1. When I go to speedy entry in my file, and then strike the appropriate piano key for a percussion note, I get silence.
How can I get the percussion patches to play?
2. In your file, I get the different types of percussion within speedy entry, but along with the piano note when I test keys for a selection.
Hearing a piano note along with a percussion sound in this context is a minor issue, since in play back the piano is left out.
Is that normal?
