Once a piece is finished and ready for the world, is it possible to save it as a PDF file? Or some other printed format that's pretty universally readable?

None of the "save as" options seem to include this, but there must be a way.

Let me guess:

You are using Windows, not Macintosh?

In Mac OS X, PDF creation is built in.

Windows users have to rely on third party software.

Here are some ideas:

Thanks...that's one more reason to go Mac.

Any recommendations based on cost and/or glitches, or programs that seem to run pretty much glitch free?

Thanks,

To save as PDF, Go to the File > Print > Setup...the option under the setup is Acrobat Distiller. That'll save your piece as PDF. Hope this helps out. Let me know. :D

As a Mac user I have no experience with these Windows programs myself, but I have only listed those that have been recommended by satisfied users.

Some of them are freeware, so they are well worth the cost.

I'm using CutePDF writer http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp
It works fine under Windows XP and also important: it's free. After installing you get an extra printer. Select this CutePDF printer which lets you print the PDF doc to a specified folder.
