change octave of playback instrument?

Hi everyone,

I've started an arrangement with using a clarinet part, and now want to change that to bass clarinet. I managed to change the staff name, and would like to alter the playback instrument which I think is in Garritan. I note that there is no "bass clarinet" instrument listed in the Garritan sounds, but test files for clarinet and bass clarinet (both of which are options in the setup wizard) results in a clarinet sound that plays back an octave lower for the bass clarinet file.

Is there a way of telling Finale/Garritan to lower the clarinet playback by an octave in the file I've already put together?

Thanks a lot for any help!

Peter (Finale 2008, Windows)

Hi Peter,
make an upgrade to FIN25 and you will get, what you want (correct sounding Bassclarinet is inside). Take the demo before and check it out.

You should be able to set an octave transposition for the staff. (You may need to move the note up or down an octave, depending on where it needs to be.)

2008 is quite old, and there have been significant changes to Finale, particularly with the concepts of "instruments", since then.

Finale has had "(Bb treble clef) Up M9, add two sharps" for a very long time, well before 2008. I've used this with MIDI playback but not Garritan. Change "Transposition" in the staff attributes.
